NorthwestPainGuidance.org is a collaborative effort of providers in Oregon and Washington to support healthcare providers treating pain and individuals who suffer with persistent pain. Our mission is to provide evidence-based and easy to use educational resources for providers and the public. While the original intent was to serve Oregon and Washington, the website has become a national resource with over 75% of the users accessing the website from outside Oregon and Washington.

Our objective is to ensure that healthcare professionals and the public have easy access to educational resources to help treat and manage pain. Our emphasis is non-pharmacological pain management therapies for providers and self-management educational resources for individuals suffering with pain.

We support:

  • Healthcare providers working with people experiencing pain
  • People living with persistent pain and their caregivers seeking trusted, accessible educational materials on how to live better despite pain

We provide:

Our Advisory Group

Our Website Advisory Group provides direction and develops content for this website. The Advisory Group is composed of:

  • Practicing clinicians from diverse disciplines and care settings (urban and rural)
  • Members with lived experience of pain
  • Content reviewers who are recognized experts in the field of pain

We meet ten times a year to:

  • Identify practice and knowledge gaps in the treatment of pain
  • Develop practical guidance for providers to address these practice and knowledge gaps
  • Develop educational resources for the public so they can self-manage their pain by learning how pain works and making healthy lifestyle changes
  • Promote and disseminate these tools, guidance, and educational resources to providers and the general public
